Composed in 1986 after Swerts graduated and on request of CeBeDem, who was establishing an anniversary Liszt Edition, suggesting her members write a piece that had a link with the famous composer. Swerts, the year before in 1985, had played and studied the 3 Sonetti del Petrarca of Liszt. This piece was originally written for viola and piano; the composer revised this version for piano solo himself.
