Swerts composed this flute solo piece when he visited the very old Antiga Catedral (first century AD) in a Portuguese village named Idanha-a-Velha. His colleague, the flutist Berten D'hollander, then took his flute and performed there in that empty church Debussy's Syrinx. This magical moment inspired Swerts to compose this impressionistic piece. Later, he made this version for soprano saxophone.
