The famous oboe player Marcel Ponseele commissioned Dr. Piet Jozef SWERTS a new work of substantial length (22') which was an artistic answer to and communication with the Gran Partita of W.A.Mozart. The orchestration of Swerts' Serenata, therefore, is identical to Mozart's. Further, each movement utilizes thematic material of Mozart's oeuvre or makes at least reminiscences to it. The first performance was by Ponseeles ensemble Il Gardellino. The present set is for contemporary instruments, but on request, extra parts for historical instruments can be added, especially for the horn parts.
