Composed in 1986 after Swerts graduated and on request of CeBeDem who was establishing an anniversary Liszt-Edition suggesting her members to write a piece that had a link with the famous composer. Swerts had the year before in 1985 played and studied the 3 Sonetti del Petrarca of Liszt. This piece was originally written for viola and piano, the composer revised this version for piano solo himself.
