At the request of trumpeter Benny Wiame, Dr. Swerts composed a concerto that would have the same combination as Shostakovich's. It consists of the traditional three movements. The second movement was inspired by the slow movement of Shostakovitch's second piano concerto. The recording is to be found on Souvenirs from Belgium.
